Pepper Tuna Steaks

  • 2 tuna steaks fresh or defrosted
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • sea salt & black pepper to taste

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 3 idaho potatoes partially peeled
  • 1-2 tbsp butter salted
  • sea salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or milk of choice

  • Thoroughly wash and peel the potatoes, leaving a strip of skin on each. Boil until tender, and drain in a colander. Put the potatoes back in the pot or in a large bowl.
  • In a small saute pan, heat the olive oil and add the crushed garlic. Roast until slightly brown. Then add to the pot with the potatoes.
  • Add butter, almond milk and salt & pepper to taste. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher (or a clean mug).
  • To prepare the tuna, wash and pat dry with a paper towel. Rub the tuna steaks with a little olive oil, then season with a little sea salt, and a generous amount of black pepper on each side. It's best to use freshly ground black pepper. If you have your own grinder, use the coarse setting.
  • Add olive oil to a hot cast iron skillet, then add the tuna steaks. Sear for about two minutes, then flip and sear the other side*
  • Serve Pepper Tuna Steaks and Rosted Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Sauteed Spinach or vegetable of your choice.

* Timing depends on the thickness of your tuna steaks. The steaks should be medium rare when done. Be careful not to over cook.
